PayRetailers, a starter in the CONMEBOL Sudamericana

PayRetailers is going out onto the pitch with a new football shirt and is becoming the first company specializing in payment processing to be an Official Sponsor of the CONMEBOL Sudamericana, thus managing to debut in South America and achieve our dream of positioning ourselves in this market via a shared passion: football.

At PayRetailers, we live this sport like a lifestyle. We are joining the South American passion and becoming part of this culture, growing to become a reference point in payment services both in Europe and in Latin America.

From what was agreed with CONMEBOL, we will experience the South American CONMEBOL from within, enhancing our presence in the Latin American market, where football is a passion of the multitudes. Along with prestigious brands such as Qatar Airways, Betfair, Bridgestone, EA Sports, MG Motor, among others, PayRetailers now closely follows South American football.

Last Tuesday the whistle has been blown and the twentieth edition of the CONMEBOL Sudamericana began. The teams that got the ball rolling in the first round of the Preliminary Phase were 12 de Octubre (PAR) vs Nacional (PAR), and Macará (ECU) vs Emelec (ECU). While the ball was the protagonist of the night, after just a few minutes the PayRetailers logo showed up for all to see in the stadiums, so that our association with CONMEBOL became part of the game.

The sponsorship with CONMEBOL allows us to have a presence on a visual level during the broadcast of the games. This, together with the appearance of the brand via the different CONMEBOL communication channels and the visibility that will be generated by the execution of different activities during the tournament, will allow us to strengthen the presence of PayRetailers.

About CONMEBOL

Founded in 1916, the South American Football Confederation – CONMEBOL – is the governing body of South American football and the oldest continental football confederation in the world. CONMEBOL, made up of ten member associations, including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela, is responsible for the organization and governance of the main international South American football tournaments, including CONMEBOL Copa América, Libertadores, Sudamericana and Recopa, among others.

Since 2016, CONMEBOL has undergone a series of structural reforms to modernize its government and operations, increase the global competitiveness of its exclusive tournaments, and strengthen its promotion of football development through increased revenue and investment.

As part of that strategy, in the last two years, CONMEBOL’s professional club competitions have been vastly improved through a new format design and the adoption of standards, designed to increase the quality of tournaments from the point of view of competitive, sports and commercial entertainment.

The 20th edition of CONMEBOL Sudamericana will be played by 56 teams and divided into three phases: Preliminary Phase (March 16 to April 8), Group Phase (April 20 to May 27) and Elimination Phase (July 27 to September 30).

The final will be held in the month of November and for the third consecutive year a single match will be played in a neutral stadium. Although the stadium has not yet been defined, CONMEBOL must choose the venue among 15 candidate stadiums: 6 from Argentina: Bombonera, Monumental, Libertadores de América, President Perón, Pedro Bidegaín and Único Santiago del Estero. 7 from Brazil: Mané Garricha from Brasilia, Arena do Baixada, Arena Castelao from Fortaleza, Beira Río from Porto Alegre, Arena Pernambuco, Maracaná and Arena Fonte from Salvador de Bahía. The remaining two are the National Stadium in Santiago de Chile and the Rodrigo Paz Delgado in Quito, Ecuador.

PayRetailers and its arrival in football

The situation the world is going through these days threw us all off. Despite the fact that for now the seats are empty, the passion for football unites and breaks boundaries. PayRetailers also crosses borders. We make our clients reach new markets. We want you to be able to market locally and as a visitor, safely and reliably.

Our arrival in Latin America through CONMEBOL is one extra step in our desire to expand and be able to cover different regions, achieving that unity that only sports has achieved. Football in Latin America is part of a culture that defines an entire continent.

“The Great Conquest”: The motto that unleashed so many sensations when we heard it on CONMEBOL South American broadcasts, is shared today. After the first week of competition, with 14 games played, it is time to shout out the goal, your goal towards the gateway to the Latin American market.
