In two months, there are already about 4,000 QR codes in business. Restaurants, fast foods and delivery are using technology and the focus will be, mainly, small shops, says Visanet.
Thus, there are already more than 2,000 businesses enabled to accept payments with this technology, revealed Diego Conroy, general manager of Visanet.
In these stores there are 4,000 QRs, in less than two months since the deployment began, he added.
He explained that this type of payment technology is aimed at the bottom of the pyramid businesses, in which the acquisition of a traditional POS is usually expensive and, therefore, traders seek alternatives.
In this line, he emphasized that “the QR will democratize the acceptance of electronic means of payment”.
However, the adoption of this technology requires a learning process. Therefore, Visanet has begun the development of QR payments in shops in modern and traditional Lima, with the aim of generating more knowledge of the system, the executive said.
Today, they are using this means of payment some restaurants, fast foods and, above all, the delivery, which no longer need to carry the traditional POS, detailed. He added that another use of this technology is in the payment of receipts and invoices that have that code printed on the document. “We have the goal of 100,000 (QR) deployed this year,” he said.
“In the second half of the year, above all, we will see it in stores where this technology is the first way to reach acceptance (electronic means of payment),” he added. However, he said that a fundamental part of the ecosystem of payments with QR is the deployment of electronic wallets (credit cards incorporated in the smartphone) of banks.
Three of the major banks already have wallet and QRs are being made with these wallets, according to Conroy.
