The Superliga Americana de Rugby – SLAR, had its first month of competition which began on March 13, where PayRetailers, the payment gateway focused on the Latin American market, was the great surprise of the championship, being the first paytech company to be an official sponsor of the largest rugby tournament in the region.
Superliga Americana de Rugby 2022
The championship consists of two regular stages, where two teams face each other twice, with the four best teams going on to play the semi-finals, before the two winning teams take part in the final, using the same format that was held in the 2021 season.
Currently, the SLAR has the following format:
Stage #1, began on March 13 and ended on April 8. The competition took place almost entirely – with the exception of three matches – in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Stage #2, played entirely at the Charrúa Stadium, began on Sunday, April 23, and will end on Sunday, May 15.
The semi-finals are scheduled for Saturday, May 21 and the final will be played the following Saturday, May 28.
Fans can follow the tournament on Star +, ESPN and other important sports channels, where the PayRetailers brand will be present in the stadiums, digital assets and in advertising spots. The company has gradually entered the world of sports sponsorships in Latin America, obtaining a great reception in the region as a result. This is supported by a large structure of human teams established in 12 local markets, where PayRetailers has operations processing cross-border payments from international companies that choose to expand their businesses in Latin America.
Renato Cassinelli, Public Relations Manager at PayRetailers comments “SLAR 2022 will be very exciting for fans of this super league rugby in Latin America. The integration of this competition into our family of sports sponsorships is another example of our close involvement with the region in which we operate, where we promote increased inclusion and financial education across the various emerging markets.”
