According to comScore’s analysis of digital banking in Mexico, conducted with the MMX Multi-Platform measurement tool, it was found that one out of every four Internet users in Mexico has access to web or mobile banking, that is, a total of 16.3 million people.
16 million Mexicans access digital banking, 60% on mobile
The number of users connected to digital banking in Mexico is equivalent to 25% of the unique Internet users in the country.
Likewise, more than 60% is connected only from mobile devices, according to the latest comScore studies.
Other conclusions found by comScore are:
- 64% of Mexican users use only the mobile version of digital banking. 23% only access from the desktop web version, while 13% use both formats.
- In general terms, the average use of digital banking by one user per month is 37 minutes. The period with the highest number of unique visitors in digital banking in Mexico is November 2017, with almost 18 million unique visitors.
- 98% of mobile minutes are consumed in a mobile application and only 2% in a mobile browser.
- The number of unique mobile visitors grew 42%, reaching 12.6 million in March 2018.
On these findings, Iván Marchant, vice president of comScore Mexico, explained that if you compare the figures of digital banking in Mexico with those of other important countries in the region, 50% of Brazilian users visit banking sites, while in Argentina the figure approaches almost 30%.
